Jihan Zencirli is best known and loved for her creative brainchild, Geronimo Balloons, which she started in 2011. After growing up in Seattle, Jihan moved to LA in her 20s and has spent the last 7 years making oversized balloon installations on buildings, at weddings, in homes and most recently, for the New York City Ballet. Jihan is the first woman to ever be commissioned in an Artist Series by the New York City Ballet, and you can catch the final dates of her series in NYC on February 2nd and 24th. Jihan is a bi-coastal bae, but she happened to be in LA this month and popped in for our chat.

Matthew Schueller is well known for his YouTube channel, booshoe37, that he started in high school at the age of 15. Growing up in in Albany, Oregon, he helped host the first northwest YouTube Gathering in June of 2008, and has been a large part of the YouTube community for over 10 years. Matthew publicly came out via a YouTube video in 2013 while at college in Seattle, and now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska with his fiance, Michael, where he works as a wedding photographer. We recorded our discussion over Skype, and talked about major life adjustments, (moving! getting engaged! starting a new business!) mental health, and family acceptance.

Local Wanderer was created in January 2014 when two friends from Vancouver, Canada quit their jobs, jumped in a car, and set out to discover the west coast without the help of a maps app. Elaine and Taylor created an Instagram account to share the local people and places they encountered along the way, which quickly grew to 28,000 followers in their first 6 weeks on the road. 4 years later, Local Wanderer is a travel blog, complete with social media channels, and is focused on traveling like a local, not a tourist. The ladies both have other jobs, as well. Elaine is the Community Manager at Shutterstock Custom, and Taylor is the Marketing Lead at Later.com. We were originally going to record this via Skype, but their travels brought them into my living room in Los Angeles, where we got to see each other face to face and record our chat.

Ryan sends out a daily email, empowering his thousands of subscribers with a morning grounding, where he often references A Course in Miracles and sometimes his own Jewish upbringing. Jen Gotch is a creative entrepreneur who cares about color and quirk. She founded ban.do with a friend in 2008, and transformed it from a small, vintage, one-of-a-kind hair accessories company into a multimillion dollar brand. After selling ban.do, Jen has remained on as the chief creative officer and fearless leader of the ban.do team, and has also become an important activist in the realm of mental health. Jen shares about her own mental illness, depression, divorce, and more of her genuine life experiences on her personal social media channel, and leaves almost no topic untouched. She was my most requested guest from all of you, and so I loved getting to have her over to my place to talk about something she’s never discussed on her online platform… her choice to not have kids.

In 2011, she launched Create & Cultivate, the online platform and offline conference series created specifically for female entrepreneurs in the digital space. Jaclyn angel invests in female owned businesses such as AWAY luggage and is an advisor to several start ups. She has been named Forbes 30 under 30 for marketing and advertising and A Woman of Note by the Wall Street Journal, among other accolades. Jaclyn and her husband live in Los Angeles, and we happen to live in the same neighborhood, so she came over to my place to record our discussion on relationships + marriage.
